Hey friends, how have you been? I will start by saying that October was truly a difficult month for me and shall I say many! Pretty thankful that its over. I try to not to get too personal on the blog but lets just say I have been going through some serious transitions. My problems seem really small in comparison to what others have been going through. My heart goes out to all those affected in the hurricane.

I'm quite the nester at heart, I adore home life and invest lots of time and effort into all the spaces I've lived. While I love to travel, I will always be quite the homebody. When my home life is shaken up or compromised it affects me in all areas of life. I've been going through a break up with my boyfriend of four years. We've both been very adult about it, knowing that its for the right reasons. Sometimes couples grow together and sometimes apart. So between trying to find a new apartment and loosing my best friend and other half, I was a bit of a mess.

Now, I am done being a mess, it doesn't suite me. I deserve the best and will not compromise. I'm finally starting to get settled into my new home and adjusting to my new way of life. Not saying it won't be tough at times, but I am happy to say I am on the right track to finding my way again. Today is a good day. As always thanks for listening. xN

This song makes me happy.

  9. not once in my life have i been through something like that and not looked back on it and been glad it happened, every break-up and my divorce included. turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me! seriously, i'd go through all the heartache again to be where i am now. i think that's how it works if we move forward gracefully... which you evidently seem to be doing! (ps. i think it's refreshing when things get personal...it makes everyone feel a little less crazy.)

  15. My heart goes out to you Nicole ♥

Your words just made me realize I'll be OK. One day. You see, I've been (and still am, I guess) living in the same mess for almost the same period of time as you. I know I'll be on a right track shortly. I almost am.

Keep strong, dear! And I promise, I will too.

  16. Beautiful song. Changes are not that easy but at the end one gets use to it and the best thing is starting to find good and happy things in those changes so that one can start feeling more familiar to it. ¡¡Have a great weekend!!

  17. I am so very happy to hear your words. You definitely deserve the best, and I am sure you'll find your "own best", being it a cozy home, a new purpose, and exciting project, or simply, the peace of the heart.

  18. Love tugs at our hearts and sometimes pulls them apart, but I think the process enriches our lives. It's just hard when we're going through something to see the end of the tunnel. It sounds like you are ready to begin again. Blessings to you.

  21. My heart aches for you! I, too, am transitioning away from a long relationship (10 yrs to be exact.) The first several months were brutal; my thoughts completely arrested by pain. It's been seven months now, and while I still have challenging days, on whole I am in a much much better place. For the first time in my adult life I'm really excited about my journey as an individual. This expression is my a daily reminder to stay the course: "What lies ahead is substantially more thrilling than anything you've already experienced."

Let your work be your medicine and your guide, but also allow yourself to feel the pain. You'll be amazed by what's born from it.

Elizabeth Lesser's book, Broken Open, was a huge help to me.

You're in my heart and my thoughts.

  25. I imagine the hardest part is taking all those plans you had made together, all those dreams and expectations, and putting them to the side and starting over, starting fresh. But there is opportunity in that word 'fresh'. It's hard, I know. Go buy Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar. It will make you cry, but it will also pull you out of those dark lonely places.

  26. Oddly enough, in September I split with MY boyfriend of four years. It's easily the most difficult thing I've ever done - I moved out of the house we shared, found a new house to make my own... transitions are difficult. Sending you a hug, even though we're strangers. xo

  28. I love your blog, photos and words. I have a song for you.

There was a spanish pop band called La Buena Vida (from San Sebastian) which has been very significant in the history of the spanish pop. I thought that you would like this song: Puede que hoy sea el Día (maybe today is the day).

  29. Breakups are tough, I went through a similar situation last year - and it just takes some time to feel good, you can't beat yourself up for being miserable, you have to grieve in order to heal properly. And then when the grieving is over, you can move on with your life and it will get easier by the day! The pain only means you're making progress. give into it instead of fighting or masking it :) good luck!!

  30. this weekend i was fiercely reminded that many times i don't think that i deserve "it" so i live accordingly. but the fact is that i do deserve "it" we all deserve "it" whatever that be today and tomorrow, striving for the best life. strength and love to you in this transition - feel the growing pains and use them as guides to what is to come.

    you deserve it.
