I've been to Miami two different times. I have mixed feelings about this city. Things I enjoyed were the brightly colored buildings and art deco architecture. I loved that while staying in Miami Beach, you have access to a great beach no matter where you are. It isn't the Caribbean but it's really nice for a city beach. They have great wooden walkways built all the way up the coast. A beautiful scenic walk through the mangroves and tropical foliage alongside the ocean is the way to go. The food was fresh and I love the Latin influences. While traveling back from Argentina my stop over in Miami was a welcoming adjustment back given that it is practically a Latin country as everyone speaks Spanish. I was able to get a cafe con leche and medialunas (croissant, medialuna meaning half moon) every morning while I sat on the beach enjoying the fresh crisp sea air and sun on my skin. I appreciate that most people there are into their health, people exercise and spend a lot of time outdoors but I could not stand the superficiality of some. It didn't feel classy, it was just plain cheesy. I know their are people in Miami who do it well and do it right, and look fantastic. But the people who are trying to hard, well yuck. Overly tanned bodies that looked orange, huge cheesy mirrored glasses and way too much time spent at the gym. I am not going to talk trash but lets just say I am not into cheese ball guido and guidette driving their Ferrari up and down ocean ave blasting loud techno music with their small dog sitting in her Louis Vuitton purse. hahah Sorry! I guess I prefer the more down to earth beach scene in the end.
You have a lovely blog, thank you for sharing such sunny images.
ReplyDeleteAnd I definitely agree with your comments on Miami beach. Why do people try so hard?
I agree! I live in Miami but I know tacky tourists make it seem like that's all Miami has to offer...next time go to Coconut Grove and try paddle boarding or go to the wonderful vegan farmers market. If you're really adventurous take a trip out to Three Sisters Farm for a surreal and delicious farm-to-table experience.
