Right in the middle of Rockaway, Queens a few blocks from the beach is this little gem. A collection of shanty's on a random street corner. This is a surf spot and reminds me so much of SoCal, I felt right at home. I had read many articles about their famous spot, so when we were at the beach at Fort Tilden I thought what a better time to go try it! My boyfriend and I are serious fish taco lovers, trying almost every spot in NYC to find the best. They have quite the compound here, the Delicious Rockaway Taco, along side is DiCosmos Italian Ice, and Veggie Island where they sell local vegetables and Jack's Coffee. Most of the produce comes from Bloominghill Farm. They also grow veggies on the roof and have a bee hive! I also believe that the people of Rockaway Taco help to teach local kids about eating healthy. A definitely a plus in my book. I mean how cool is all this. Pretty much anything we could want! The beach, then fish taco, wash it down with a watermelon juice, head next door and get a shaved ice, then pick up a good selection of veggies to make dinner when you head home. The energy is great, the service super friendly, the food extremely fresh and tasty (they won our vote for best fish tacos). I almost forgot I was in NYC, after a beautiful day at the beach, some fabulous food and atmosphere, then on the drive home hit some serious traffic! Boo! A nice welcome back to the city.
